CANsmart™ Controller for BMW R1200LC & R1250 Series
Harness the flexibility and intelligence of your BMW motorcycle's CAN bus electrical system to make installation of accessories drastically easier with the new and improved DENALI CANsmart™ Controller GEN II.
The DENALI CANsmart™ Controller provides plug-n-play installation and integrated control of up to four accessories to enable dozens of customizable settings that can be controlled right from the BMW "WonderWheel" or the CANsmart™ Accessory Manager Software.
The CANsmart's four circuits are preprogrammed to connect and independently control two sets of DENALI 2.0 lights, a SoundBomb horn, and our B6 auxiliary brake light.
Gen II - More Features, More Power, More Versatile
Unlike the Gen I CANsmart, all four circuits of the Gen II can provide a full 10 amps of continuous power and each circuit can be configured to run any accessory type. The maximum power draw for the whole unit remains at 30 amps continuous. The Gen II also features two new auxiliary light settings. You can now modulate your auxiliary lights for added conspicuity, and set your left and right side lights to independently cancel when you activate your corresponding turn signal.
Features
- High/Low Sync - Set auxiliary lights to switch between a programmable high/low setting with the factory high beam switch.
- ON/OFF and Dim - Independently control two sets of lights ON/OFF and change intensity level (for both day and night) right from your original vehicle switches.
- Modulate Lights - Set auxiliary lights to modulate to increase your visibility to other motorists.
- Flash to Pass - Need to get someone's attention? Pulse your high beam switch three times and your auxiliary lights will strobe three times fast.
- Cancel With Turn Signal - This feature cancels the corresponding auxiliary light when you turn your turn signal on preventing powerful auxiliary lights from overpowering your signal.
- Inverse Flashing With Hazards - This features flashes your auxiliary lights inversely to your hazard lights, increasing visibility during road side emergency's.
- Plug & Play Horn Installation - Quickly and easily connect high power aftermarket horns like our SoundBomb™ without having to add an additional harness or relay.
- Strobe with Horn - With this feature selected the CANsmart™ software will automatically strobe your auxiliary lights when you sound your horn. This feature works whether you have the factory horn or SoundBomb™ horn installed.
- Deceleration Activated "Smart Brake" Technology - The CANsmart™ reads vehicle speed in real time to activate your auxiliary brake light during deceleration before you even touch the brake. You can adjust the sensitivity and minimum speed at which the Smart Brake Feature will activate.
- Flash Pattern Braking - The CANsmart™ provides four different flash patterns that make our super bright auxiliary brake lights even noticeable to motorists behind you. You can set auxiliary brake lights to only flash under hard braking, flash continuously as your brake is applied or flash four times rapidly then hold steady (California legal flash rate).
- Circuit Function Selector - The Circuit Function Selector in the CANsmart software will let you run any accessory of your choice on any of the four circuits. Click on a circuit icon to open the drop down menu and make your selection from the list of available circuit functions.
- Switched Power Source - The CANsmart™ provides a universal "accessory" option which simply gives you clean switched 12V power. That means whatever accessory you connect to this circuit will turn on and off with your ignition.
- Delay Time Out - You can also set the accessories on this circuit to have a delayed time out. This will keep them powered for up to 30 seconds after your turn off your bike.

On Board Power - The "accessory" circuit option is ideal for powering your GPS, phone, heated gear or any other electronic device.

It�s still a work in progress! I can�t get the blinkers to work, but I will! I�m very satisfied with the product.
very easy to install love it
Purchased CANsmart with D4 and B6 lights. Everything packaged well and arrived in good condition. Installation and setup was very easy with various options for operation. Very well please with light output and Denali products.

Installation is straight forward. Wires are too long for the application and should be cut to length for each application. Works as advertised. Caps for the lead ends that are not used are not provided. Did not see an option to purchase caps either maybe I missed it on the website.
I enjoy the Denali setup! I also enjoy the functionality of these lights. I have since (this video) added the T3s to the front and rear. The difference in riding at night is astounding! And the rear flashing brake lights get drivers attention as soon as they start flashing!! I get a LOT more space when I brake now! And the D7s are dipped toward the ground at 10% to not blind oncoming traffic. But at 100% (even angled down) they provide so much light that it�s like riding during the day.
Toast and out of warranty. Huge bummer for an item that should not have failed so quickly. As I�m not in the habit of manipulating the lights, I think I�ll just go the DIY route with a microcontroller or use 12v relays. $1200+ investment in Denali - it ought to last the lifetime of the bike.
Great product easy to install and setup
Not only that the install is simple and quick, the customer service is First Class! I want to make sure that my lights configurations set in a particular way. The two representatives that I�ve talked to were very knowledgeable and patient to assist! Made the whole experience AMAZING!

I love the CanSMART controller. I have used one now both my F850GSA and now a new R1250GSA (photo and video attached). The installation is straightforward, easy to read and understand directions along with Denali/TT support staff; I�ve used both. I used the CanSMART to power B6 tail lights shown, but also D4 Aux lights and DRL�s as well. Lastly, you can find lots of YouTube videos of installations and all kinds of adventure bikes. I�ve used the software as well, but have always gone back to the default settings. Maybe the Sound Bomb is next�.

Love the Denali Cansmart, the B6 Brake light and the Soundbomb! I've also connected my Weiser Technic Turn Indicators Front and Rear to the CanSmart. To be able to plug in my computer and control all these elements is amazing. Also makes addition of components so easy and adds less fused connections to my already crowded battery compartment. Plus the support received from Jesse and the customer support team is unparalleled! You can really tell that they ride bikes and really care about the product and supporting customers. Store owner replied: Excellent! I'd recommend making the D4 Pods Aux Lights 2, as that control scheme is preferable and it's impossible to accidentally turn off Light Pair 2, while it's too easy to do so with Light Pair 1. -Alex with Denali
Easy to install, right out of the box it is working... All cables where included, most of the work is the fitting of the cables on your bike.

Worst experience with the product and support. Had 2 of them simply stop working. Problem with it is that after a little bit of time the CanBus Unit simply stopped working. It doesn�t turn on the auxiliary lights on the front and doesn�t run the auxiliary brake light. It�s almost like it was disconnected from the battery, But if you plug in your computer to the USB plug-in on the CanBus it powers up just fine but I obviously can�t ride around with a computer connected to it. I replaced the unit and it worked again for a while and then started doing the exact same thing. Did some research online and found other customers with the same issue I did contact Support pretty much no help there. Spoke with the BMW dealership they also have experienced issues with this product and said they do not offer to install it anymore and if I were to get a 3rd replacement they didn�t want anything to do with it. Denali support does not want to work with the possibility. It could be their product and insist that it must be something on my end. But it was professionally installed twice. I would be leery of purchasing this product, especially when they�re charging a price for a top-notch product but selling something else. It�s too bad because the Denali lights that I got that work with the system and came in the kit are fantastic when they work It�s a real shame that The CanBus has this problem?
everything ok - except one cable was broken - the male connector was copletely broken, so that i cannot use the cable
I have used Can Smart in my 2014 BMW R1200. Now with my 2024 GSA 1250. It still works great!
Easy to connect but didn't see instructions for the programming software. I may have missed it. But it would have been nice to see all the options.
Easy install, easy setup with software, very bright lights and loud horn!
The introduction of the EZ-CAN to my BMW r1250R has raised an issue. With only an accessory attached to the EZ-CAN, the BMW reports that the license plate light is not working. I moved to a different circuit and the error cleared, is now a sometimes error. I'm hoping that the error goes away, or becomes constant so it is easier to track down.
Great product that I have changed because my last HexZcan was damage by mositure weather. It is more easy to configure in the laptop than Hex Ezcan
Still waiting for the mounts from Denali for my Denali lights. Can�t show them in action or even rate the lights or CAN Bus controller while I wait.
It seems to be great. My only complaint is that it ought to have been programed so it worked when I plugged it in. Eventually, your technical staff helped me out and it worked out well. However for $700, the courtesy of having it work out of the box doesn't seem too much to ask.

2024 BMW R1250GSA. Running D4 (special amber w/ hybrid lens) and D3 (white with spot lens) in place of BMW cruising lights w/ B6 taillight. All works seamlessly. Hardest part of install was tucking CANsmart wires under seat and routing power cable to battery. You are going to have to "cut off" the fuse holder cap to sneak the fuse holder past some points, but in the end, its a very clean install. One thing about Denali's WRITTEN INSTRUCTIONS which are wrong...the BMW has tire pressure monitoring, but only has an RDC connector with a cap on the end of connector. There is no RDC UNIT. Therefore the CANsmart CANNOT be placed "inline" between the RDC connector and the RDC UNIT as depicted in their written instructions. Simply connect the CANsmart to the RDC connector and then use the RDC plug to cap the other end of the CANsmart...and all works fine. Chris in PA
This is a game changer in aftermarket lighting. Highly configurable and customizable. Easy install and setup. �Programming� was super simple. Installed on a BMW 1250RT along with D3s, soundbomb and B6 brake light. I�d recommend this to every rider.

Install was straightforward. It was good to find your software has a MACversion. The only challenges are related to the BMW GS, I was working with!

Have had two of the original can bus units and the first one stopped working in about 6 months. The second one stopped working after year. Got the new series 2 also stopped working in about a year and a half. So far I can�t say anything positive about this product. It�s a shame that there�s no other good option for another system. If I were you I�d check around and see if there is something out there besides this. I�ve received no help from Denali. Yeah it�s out of warranty but dang how many do I have to buy before I get one to last and I feel like I should get some kind of discount on another one. These people do NOT stand by their products at all. The dealership that installed it said they see a lot of problems with it and are going to stop installing these due to the lack of support with it. Too bad it�s a great idea.
